Rancho Cordova, Sacramento County
The American River forms the northern edge of Rancho Cordova, bordered by a parkway of trails that runs all the way to downtown Sacramento. Each fall salmon and steelhead return up the river to the Nimbus Fish Hatchery, where visitors can watch them climb a fish ladder. Rafters float the same stretch in summer.
